Terms of service
The deal, in plain language.
Updated: 2026-08-19
What Provio delivers and when, what it costs, how refunds work and exactly how to cancel. No small print games.
Who you are contracting with
Provio is operated by Sevan Technologies (Pty) Ltd, a company registered in the Republic of South Africa. In these terms, “Provio”, “we” and “us” mean Sevan Technologies (Pty) Ltd.
Billing, cancellation and support enquiries: payments@provio.co.za. We answer billing enquiries within two business days.
By creating an account or paying for a subscription you agree to these terms and to our privacy notice.
What you get, and when you get it
Provio is a digital subscription service delivered entirely online. There is nothing to ship and nothing physical is sold.
Access is granted immediately once your sign-up is completed and your payment is confirmed — you use the service by signing in at provio.co.za with the account you registered. If access has not been granted within a few minutes of a successful payment, email payments@provio.co.za and we will resolve it.
The service includes capturing income, deductions and receipts, estimated SARS provisional tax and set-aside guidance, forecasting, reconciliation of payments made to SARS, and downloadable summary and evidence packs. Advisers additionally get a practitioner code and read-only access to clients who link them.
Pricing and renewal
Provio Individual costs R49 per month or R490 per year. Provio Adviser costs R149 per month or R1490 per year. All prices are in South African rand (ZAR) and include VAT where applicable.
Your first subscription payment is taken when you sign up, and your plan starts immediately. There is no free trial — you can explore Provio with sample data in the demo before you subscribe.
Subscriptions renew automatically on the same cycle — monthly plans on the same day each month, annual plans on the same date each year — until you cancel. Your renewal date is always shown in Settings.
We may change our prices. If a price changes, we will tell you by email before it affects you, and you may cancel before the change takes effect.
Cancellation policy
On a monthly plan, cancel at least 7 days before your next renewal date. On an annual plan, cancel at least 30 days before your next renewal date.
If you cancel inside that notice window, the upcoming renewal still goes through and your subscription then ends at the end of that new period. Settings will always show you the exact date your access ends before you confirm.
Cancellation is self-service: open Settings, use “Cancel subscription”, and confirm. We stop the recurring payment instruction with our payment provider on your behalf — you do not need to contact your bank. If anything goes wrong, email payments@provio.co.za and we will cancel it for you.
You keep full access until the end of the period you have paid for. After that your account becomes read-only for a short period so you can download your records, and you may reactivate at any time.
Refund policy
Subscription fees are charged in advance for a full period. Cancelling stops future renewals; it is not pro-rated and the period already paid for is not refunded — you keep the service for the whole period you have paid for.
We will refund you in full where a payment was clearly taken in error: a duplicate charge, a charge after a valid cancellation, or a charge taken while the service was unavailable to you for an extended period. Email payments@provio.co.za within 30 days of the charge and we will refund it to the card or account used, normally within 10 business days.
Because Provio is a digital service that is made available to you immediately, no other cooling-off refund applies once you have started using the service — the free demo exists so you can evaluate Provio at no cost first.
Payments, security and complaints
Card payments are processed by Payfast, a licensed South African payment gateway. Payment details are entered on Payfast's secure, encrypted checkout — Provio never sees or stores your card number.
Accepted methods are those offered by Payfast at checkout, including Visa and Mastercard debit and credit cards, Instant EFT and other Payfast-supported methods.
To raise a complaint, email payments@provio.co.za with your account email and what went wrong. We acknowledge within two business days and aim to resolve within ten. If a payment on your statement is unfamiliar, contact us before disputing it with your bank — it is usually faster.
Your account details are stored separately from payment details, and card data is never stored on Provio's systems. Traffic to and from Provio is encrypted in transit. See our privacy notice for the full picture.
No responsibility for calculations — read this
Provio is a guidance and record-keeping platform. Every figure it produces is an estimate based on published SARS rates and the information you capture. You must verify all amounts against your own records and SARS eFiling before you submit or pay anything.
To be blatantly clear: Provio, Sevan Technologies (Pty) Ltd, and their directors, employees, contractors, partners and affiliates take no responsibility and accept no liability of any kind for any miscalculation, incorrect estimate, error, omission, outdated rate, or for any tax, penalty, interest, additional assessment, loss or damage that follows from relying on anything shown in Provio. You use the estimates entirely at your own risk.
A registered tax practitioner, adviser or accountant is still strongly recommended, and you should have every calculation confirmed by one before you submit or pay. Provio does not submit tax returns, is not a tax filing system, and does not replace SARS, a registered tax practitioner or an accountant. You remain responsible for your own tax affairs, your submissions and your deadlines.
SARS has the final say. Whatever Provio estimates, the amount actually owed, assessed, refunded or penalised is determined solely by SARS, and SARS's assessment overrides any figure shown on this platform.
You are responsible for the accuracy of what you capture and for keeping your sign-in secure. To the fullest extent permitted by law, nothing in Provio constitutes tax, financial, accounting or legal advice.
We may suspend or close an account that is used unlawfully, that abuses the service, or where fees remain unpaid. You may close your account at any time — see our privacy notice for how deletion works.
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa.
Country, currency and changes to these terms
Provio's merchant outlet country is South Africa and all transactions are processed in South African rand (ZAR). The service is intended for South African provisional taxpayers, wherever their clients pay them from.
Sevan Technologies (Pty) Ltd is responsible for the service sold on this website, for customer service and for resolving disputes. Its domicilium citandi et executandi (address for legal notices) is available on request from payments@provio.co.za.
We may update these terms from time to time. Each published version is numbered and stored, and the version you accepted is recorded against your account. If we publish a material update, you will be asked to read and accept the new version the next time you sign in, and material changes affecting your subscription or your money will be emailed to you before they take effect.
Your rights under South African consumer and electronic law
These terms are written to comply with the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008 (CPA), the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act 25 of 2002 (ECT Act), the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA) and the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act's consumer protection chapter. Nothing in these terms is intended to limit or exclude any right you have under those Acts that cannot lawfully be limited or excluded.
Section 43(5) and (6) of the ECT Act: payment is taken through a secure, encrypted payment system operated by Payfast. If Provio is at fault for a payment system failure, we carry that loss.
Section 44 of the ECT Act (cooling-off): the statutory seven-day cooling-off right applies to certain electronic transactions, and it does not apply once a service has started being supplied with your consent. Provio is made available immediately on subscribing, so that exclusion generally applies; where the cooling-off right does apply, we will honour it. Our demo lets you evaluate Provio at no cost before any money is taken — it is not a trial period and does not extend or replace any statutory right.
Section 49 of the CPA (unfair, unreasonable or unjust terms): the limitation of liability and no-responsibility-for-calculations clause above is highlighted for your attention because it limits our risk. Please read it before you accept these terms. By ticking the acceptance box you confirm you have read, understood and accepted that clause specifically.
Where any provision of these terms is found to be unenforceable, it is severed and the rest of the terms continue in force.
Notices, disputes and how to complain
You consent to receiving notices, invoices, statements and service messages from us by email and inside the platform. These are data messages under the ECT Act and are treated as being in writing.
If you have a complaint, email payments@provio.co.za first. We acknowledge within two business days and aim to resolve within ten. If we cannot resolve it between us, we will attempt to settle the dispute by negotiation and, failing that, by mediation before either of us litigates — nothing stops either party from approaching a court for urgent relief.
You may also refer a consumer complaint to the National Consumer Commission, and a data privacy complaint to the Information Regulator (South Africa) at complaints.IR@inforegulator.org.za.
These terms are governed by South African law, and the Magistrate's Court has jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them notwithstanding that the amount in issue may exceed its normal jurisdiction, without preventing either party from proceeding in a higher court where appropriate.
Acceptable use of the platform
You must use Provio only for your own tax record-keeping, or — as an adviser — for clients who have linked you with their own consent. You may not use it to store unlawful content, to attempt to access another user's records, to probe or interfere with the platform's security, or to scrape, resell or redistribute the service.
You are responsible for keeping your sign-in credentials confidential and for everything done under your account. Tell us immediately at payments@provio.co.za if you believe your account has been accessed without your permission.
All intellectual property in the platform, its calculations, content and design remains ours. The records and files you capture remain yours, and you grant us only the limited permission needed to store, process and display them back to you (and to an adviser you have linked).
All amounts shown are estimates for planning only. Verify every figure against your own records and SARS eFiling once all information has been captured. Provio is a guidance platform — it does not submit returns and does not replace SARS, a tax practitioner or an accountant. Provio, Sevan Technologies (Pty) Ltd, its directors and affiliates accept no responsibility whatsoever for any miscalculation, error or omission. Have your figures confirmed by a registered tax practitioner or adviser — SARS has the final say on what is owed.
